As we mentioned in our earlier post (Timeless Floral), our next few posts will be on the prints & textures that are in this summer. Our second obsession this summer is Stripes.. Stripes have always been very trendy & has never gone out of style. They look fabulous be it for day or night wear. There are a variety of stripes in shirts, t-shirts, jackets,dresses, pants, shorts, lingerie. Almost everything suits stripes.

We have been loving stripes for a long time to come now. Its always in vogue. Striped clothes have always attracted people's attention both positive and negative. Indeed, stripe itself is very original and can create various optical illusions in a costume.

Few tips that we would like you to keep in mind while purchasing a striped garment.

1. Horizontal stripes best suit boyish figure as they can add curves. Curvy and fuller-figured women can wear horizontal stripes too providing they are not skin tight. Go for a medium-sized stripe in a dark color and go one-size up to keep the cut slightly loose rather than clingy.

2. Vertical or diagonal stripes will elongate the body.Choose skirts or pants
with vertical stripes if you want to appear taller.

3. Narrow stripes suit more petite frames.

4. Fuller-figures should try a design that has a combination of stripes and a single color block (with the block hitting the area of your body you want to disguise).

5. To create the illusion of a bigger bust then choose a garment that has broad stripes across that area and narrower or diagonal stripes on the lower part of the body.

6. When it comes to the cut of a garment, bold wide stripes work better on loose-shaped pieces.

7. Vertical club-style stripes will flatter almost any figure.

8. If you are not sure whether stripes are for you then layer a plain cardigan or jacket over the top, to dumb-down their impact.

9. Whilst its okay to mix stripes with stripes, mixing stripes with patterns is a fashion faux pas.
